This past Saturday Jason and I took a day trip to hike Rock Dunder! I found this hike on Tik Tok and the views looked amazing so we gave it a try!
Here is a map showing where Rock Dunder is located and a closer look at the trail.

We left for the hike from Ottawa around 7:30am. We arrived a little after 9am. When you enter, you will see a small trailer which is where you pay and sign a waiver. It is $5 per hiker. The road up to the small trailer and the parking area is very tight, definitely should be one way but it isn't so be careful!
The parking area is fairly small although it was not busy at all when we went, which I was surprised about. There is also an outhouse by the parking area.
Then, we were off on the hike! We decided to hike all of the loops (there are 3 I believe) for a total of exactly 5km. This was not an easy hike. We would not recommend it for kids as there were a lot of slippery and steep sections. You will also definitely want to bring bug spray with you! Luckily we did but the bugs still got us. The trail was fairly well marked. We did get confused every so often because the trails intertwine but we ended up being on the correct trail that we wanted to be on. We did take an incorrect turn at one point so we had to turn back. Some of the paths aren't super clear so look out for the neon markers on the trees. It took us probably 30 - 40 minutes to arrive at the summit lookout. This was the hardest section of the hike I would say but the view was worth it! We basically had the whole lookout area to ourselves to explore. It was beautiful!

We looked around and rested for probably 15 minutes and then continued onto the Morton bay trail loop. There was another small lookout on this trail. We even ended up seeing a black rat snake on the trail!

Overall, we definitely enjoyed this hike but we aren't sure if its really worth the drive especially with gas prices these days. We agreed that we would rate the trail a 7/10.
It was more difficult than we expected but not too bad, the bugs were bad and the trails were a bit confusing to follow at times.
Happy Hiking!
